๐ฐ Chess News This Week (May 5โ12)

Nepo Strikes Again: Ian Nepomniachtchi wins the Bucharest Superbet Blitz event, reminding the world he still means business even when out of the classical title race. His comment? โI just clicked today.โ Must be nice.
Firouzja Goes Fashionably Late: Alireza Firouzja skipped the first few events of the Grand Chess Tour, only to come back and beat two 2700+ GMs in bullet tiebreaks. Stylish and savage.
Chess.com Titled Tuesday Chaos: GM Daniel Naroditsky played one of the most insane swindles this week vs a 2600-rated GM. Watch it. Then cry at your own blunders. ๐
๐ฃ Tactic of the Week: The Greek Gift Sacrifice
This ancient but deadly idea is a bishop sac on h7 (or h2 if you're Black) followed by a king hunt with the queen and knight. If your opponent forgets how to castle early, serve them this spicy dish:

1. Bxh7+ Kxh7 2. Ng5+ Kg8 3. Qh5
Mate is either on the wayโฆ or their position becomes a pile of flaming rubble.
Test it in your next blitz game. Bonus points if they rage quit. ๐ฏ

๐ง Tips & Tricks
When in doubt, develop. If youโre unsure what to do, just develop a piece toward the center. Boring? Yes. Effective? Also yes.
Donโt fall in love with your queen. Trade her if itโs correct. Remember: a winning endgame is better than a sexy middlegame.
Count attackers and defenders. Every tactic you miss probably started with forgetting this. Before you sacrifice anything, count.
Play openings you like. Not what Carlsen plays. If you enjoy traps, go for it. If you like solid defenses, go Berlin-style. Just own it.
